Work on the construction of a 53-story skyscraper directly across the street from the Javits Center officially got underway this month. Owned by real estate developer Moinian, the office tower will be located at the corner of West 34th Street and 11th Avenue and consist of two million square feet of world class space, as well as nearby access to the Hudson Yards-34th Street subway station.

Company officials, contractors, neighbors and representatives from the Javits Center attended a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this month where Governor Andrew M. Cuomo praised the project as another step in the rejuvenation of Manhattan’s West Side, including the expansion of the Javits Center and the renovation of Penn Station and the James A. Farley Post Office building.

“So now you start to see the new West Side. You see the transportation, Javits, Penn Farley, and it changes the whole dynamic for the West Side. And I believe this is going to be the hottest development in this city by far,” Governor Cuomo told the crowd. “Because it was always here, it always had the beautiful view of the Hudson River. It was the proximity, it was the amenities, and it was the facilities. And now all of those pieces are in place. So I think the future is going to happen here.”
