ICSC Smashes Attendance Records

The International Conference of Shopping Centers’ (ICSC) Annual New York National Deal Making Conference set a new attendance record with their recent show at the Javits Center on Manhattan’s West Side.
During the two-day event that opened on December 8, 2014, the highly anticipated conference hosted more retail real estate professionals than any other show in its history. The conference, which hosted real estate industry members from all areas – from luxury brands to dollar store chains – experienced a remarkable 26% increase in attendance when compared to the previous year’s attendance at another local venue. At the sophisticated showcase, an estimated 9,600 guests filled the halls of the iconic structure, which recently completed a top-to-bottom renovation.
This is the first time the Annual New York National Deal Making Conference has been held at the Javits Center.
“With significant investments in technology and infrastructure, the Javits Center has been reborn in many ways, and as a result, more organizations are considering us as a new venue to attract new visitors,” said Alan Steel, President and CEO of the New York Convention Center Operating Corporation, which operates the Javits Center. “We have combined a state-of-the-art renovation with an unprecedented level of customer service, and we are proud to host amazing events like ICSC and provide a one-of-a-kind experience for their exhibitors and attendees."
At one time, more than 2,600 attendees accessed the Javits Center’s new state-of-the-art WiFi system, which was part of the facility’s overall renovation. A total of 57,074 wireless sessions were activated throughout the event. Up to 70,000 users can be served at any one time with the new telecommunications system, which includes more than 700 access points installed throughout the 2.1 million square-foot building.
