With more than two million people and nearly 40,000 exhibiting companies visiting each year, it is critical to maintain the convention center and update the facility with new equipment and materials as needed. Since December 2016, our Facilities Department has overseen the implementation of 20 infrastructure upgrades – from new carpeting to a new locker room for Public Safety Officers. Among those that were implemented include:

  • Installation of Level One Flood Gates. Our existing flood gates were modified and new flood gates were installed at West 34th Street and West 39th Street. These gates are designed to protect the building in the event of a major disaster.
  • 2D North and South Corridor Renovation – The walls of the 2D North and South Corridors were repainted and the carpet was replaced in order to enhance the customer experience for customers utilizing those rooms during events.
  • Air Wall Installations. The existing air walls in 3A and 3B Hals were removed and replaced with new models. The new units have enhanced sound attenuation, more aesthetic appeal and allow for simpler maneuverability.
