The New York chapter of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events is hosting an event on September 26 to discuss the latest developments related to the expansion of the Javits Center, the largest convention center in New York.
Entitled “Expanding an Icon,” the event at the Javits Center will provide members with an update on the massive construction project, which is scheduled for completion in 2021. Javits Center President and CEO Alan Steel will deliver remarks and illustrate the numerous benefits for the events industry – from more than 100,000 square feet of new meeting room space to 500,000 square feet of contiguous exhibition space to a rooftop pavilion with dramatic views of the Hudson River and Manhattan’s West Side neighborhood.
“The Javits Center’s expansion will have a significant impact on the future of the events industry in New York, and this event will provide the latest details on what our members can expect,” said Mike Pietraszek, Chairman of NYIAEE’s Board of Directors. “This project will certainly transform the convention center into one of the most desired venues in the United States, and we are looking forward to learning how it will benefit our members, our industry and all New Yorkers.”
Established in 1974, NYIAEE represents the leaders of New York's events industry, which generates billions of dollars in economic activity for the New York region through event hosting and planning. Its members include representatives from nearly 1,000 event management organizations and related businesses who host the largest public and corporate events in the New York region. These events spur a tremendous amount of economic support for the hotel, restaurant, tourism and transportation industries across New York City and New York State.
