Longtime member of the New York Convention Center Operating Corporation’s (NYCCOC) Board of Directors Mary D’Elia was honored for her 35 years of service to the Board and the Javits Center.

During a recent ceremony, NYCCOC Chairman Henry Silverman announced the renaming of one of the building’s administrative conference rooms after Mrs. D’Elia, who was commended for her dedication to the West Side community and the convention center – even before the original construction was completed. She also served as Manhattan Coordinator in the Mayor’s Community Assistance Unit.

“She has attended close to 400 board meetings, spent around 800 hours in those meetings and has managed to be a constructive and supportive member of the Board at all times,” Mr. Silverman told the audience. “Under Mayors Koch and Dinkins, Mary was one of the key people serving as a link between City Hall, community groups and community boards.”
