Operation Raven Takes Flight

In July, we hosted Operation Raven, an active shooter tabletop exercise designed to coordinate emergency procedures in response to a simulated attack at the Javits Center. Led by Vice President of Security and Safety Solutions, Ken Dixon and the Security team, more than 150 individuals participated and observed the exercise, the first of its kind at the Javits Center.

In conjunction with law enforcement and public safety agencies from the city, state and federal levels, Operation Raven explored the response to a hypothetical terrorist attack during New York Comic Con, including the review and discussion of response protocols and procedures. Located in the Special Events Hall, the half-day exercise was part of an ongoing dialogue among security officials on

“The Javits Center is one of the busiest buildings in New York City, and it is important to work closely with our partners in law enforcement and public safety to ensure a proper response to any major emergency,” said Ken Dixon. “From barriers along 11th Avenue to electronic locks, we have made tremendous improvements to our security systems in recent years, and this exercise is another critical step toward better protecting our customers, business partners and employees in event of a major incident. Thank you to all those who helped organize a very successful event.”

Among the participates agencies included the NYPD, FDNY, New York City Emergency Management, New York State Police, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, FBI, Joint Terrorism Task Force, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Secret Service.
